To what extent is masculinity shaped by gender inequality, and to what extent does it itself shape gender inequality? How do we as a society accept male violence rather than male love? Have we—as a western socialized society—already achieved a collective awareness of these issues? The magazine offers a challenging perspective on how internalized and cultural perceptions of masculinities not only affect processes in society in general terms, but above all weights on the shoulders of men themselves. Although stereotypical thinking makes everyday life a whole lot easier and helps making sense of the world around us, sometimes it pays off to overcome this cognitive shortcut and therefore question traditionally ascribed gender stigmas that separate us in an illusory binary way. The dialogue needs to be as enriching, authentic and inclusive as possible in order to gain a deeper understanding of the masculine experience, an experience that goes beyond patriarchal clichés. However, the dialogue must be one thing—human.
